Part of the selection process to become a police in the UK involves a medical test and a series of fitness tests. As a police officer, you have to run a reasonable distance in your daily activities, and this requires a high level of flexibility. To ensure that you are fit enough to become a police officer; you must pass a fitness test before recruitment. If you fail the test, you have to retake it, but if you continually fail three times, your application gets halted, and you can’t reapply within six months. Bleep test Levels
During the UK law enforcement assessment, you will be required to complete the 15m bleep test. It involves carrying out shuttle runs between two marked spaces in a varying speed which gradually gets faster as stipulated by the bleep, and you are required to get to the other side before another beep.
A prerecorded audio device dictates the run and the time interval between beeps will decrease as you climb up the levels. It consists of several levels, each one lasting for about a minute and contains six to 14 shuttles with constant time intervals. The extent ranges from level one to level 5 with varying shuttles; for the first level, you have 6.8 seconds to get to the other side of the 15 meters track, and 6.4 seconds per shuttle for the second level.
In level three, it’s 6.1 seconds per shuttle, 5.8 seconds per shuttle in tier 4, 5.5 seconds for level 5, and you need to meet the 3 minutes 45 seconds running pass mark. If you need a particular role, then you complete the test at a higher level. For a regular police officer, PCSO, detention officers, detective constables, special constables, and CBRN, you have to meet the 5.4 tier. A dog handler requires 5.7, 6.3 for level two officers, 9.4 for a firearm support unit and armed responsive vehicles, and 10.5 for special firearms officers.

Note that there is no space for overweight personnel in the police force, and the police fitness test aims at filtering out such individuals. Previously the minimum requirement to pass the test was a bit higher and was recently reduced. Improve your sit-ups count per minute for your core strength and mobility, which helps prevent back injuries and measure abdominal muscles.
Enhance your long-distance running taking into account the time taken, heart health, and breathing function. The 8.8 Level on the Bleep test
To succeed in the firefighter fitness training, you must be able to achieve the 8.8 level, meaning that you have to run at 0.5 kilometres per hour, between two points, that are 20 meters away at a progressive rate. The task is considered a highly dangerous activity with potential risk to high physiological levels. For effective and safe operations on the line of duty, your level of endurance and physical fitness is vital. The crucial part of the recruitment will be assessing fitness and determination on the bleep test. You may also be required to do an aerobic fitness test to determine your aerobic capacity. It allows assessment of your ability to perform for a longer time. Alternative Tests To The Police Bleep Test
In November 2016, the College of Policing endorsed two validated treadmill tests as alternative fitness assessments to the 15-metre test (15m MSFT), as applied for the job-related fitness test (JRFT) and specialist roles.
These alternative tests have been developed to allow those who are unable to complete the 15m MSFT due to medical conditions, injury or disability. It is up to the local police forces to decide which test to offer the police office.
